VERY good blog post. Thank you for this. I recently completed my first book... writing it that is! I had read a Stephen King intro on a Michael Connelly book I think it was where he was talking about the importance of the first sentence. I had never given a thought to it before that. Apparently agents and publishers REALLY love a great first sentence and first few pages. The first sentence in my new book is: "The first time I saw a blade over six inches it was pressing tightly against my seven year old Adam’s apple." My brother who is doing the editing liked it a lot. I will put you in my RSS feeds and watch your blog - this article hooked me. Thanks. Mike
